The Candidate and Responsibilities

The Accounting Assistant position is based out of Vancouver.


Applicants for this position will be self-motivated individuals with a high degree of initiative and will possess strong interpersonal skills, be attentive to detail, and able to build trusting relationships.


The candidate will report directly to the Accounting Manager and work in conjunction with all departments.


The Accounting Assistant will be active in the following primary responsibilities both in an individual and team setting:


  • Perform full cycle accounts payable functions (includes but not limited to: AP entries and cheque runs)
  • Perform bank runs and deposits
  • Support accounts receivable responsibilities
  • Process expense reports as required
  • Maintain systematic filing of accounting records
  • Respond to requests and inquires from other departments and external vendors
  • Assist in the preparation of supporting working papers and documentation for year-end audit process
  • Assist in the annual billing to tenants and support property management and development teams in accounting matters
  • Provide general support to documentation and administration processes
  • Assist with administrative tasks as assigned by Accounting Manager
  • Other responsibilities as required

 Competencies, Qualifications and Required Experience

  • Completion of Accounting diploma/certificate or equivalent post-secondary program
  • Minimum 2 years in high volume Accounts Payable
  • Knowledge of Yardi Voyager a strong asset
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
