The Candidate and Responsibilities


The Corporate Accounting Manager position is based out of Vancouver. 


Applicants for this position will be self- motivated individuals with a high degree of initiative and will possess strong interpersonal skills, be attentive to detail, and able to build trusting relationships.


The candidate will report directly to the Director of Accounting and work in conjunction with all departments across Hungerford Properties to build best in class financial oversight and execution of Hungerford’s Corporate activities.


The Corporate Accounting Manager is a new role within Hungerford Properties created to optimize the financial management of the Corporate Function at Hungerford Properties. The role has a broad range of responsibilities including full cycle accounting, reporting, cash management, budgeting and forecasting, tax and system/process automation and streamlining. This role is equal parts execution and management and requires the candidate to have a high degree of attention to detail, ability to manage and prioritize completing deadlines, strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to influence and communicate across the organization.  With one direct report, the ideal candidate will work collaboratively to meet reporting deadlines while looking ahead to provide Stakeholders timely, thorough, and thoughtful analysis to support the growth and profitability of Hungerford Properties.    

The Corporate Accounting Manager will be active in the following primary responsibilities:


General Administration Accountability


  • Oversight of full cycle accounting for Hungerford Corporate and Master Fund entities
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports to stakeholders
  • Review of Corporate KPIs including providing recommendations to enhance profitability
  • Oversight of budgeting and forecasting for Hungerford Corporate
  • Preparation and review of Corporate fee analysis and recommendations
  • Assistance with monthly payroll review and analysis
  • Management of Corporate treasury including cash forecasting
  • Coordination of annual compliance activities with external services providers (tax and accounting)
  • Yardi system administration and process improvement lead
  • Establish and recommend improvements to policies and procedures, ensure that all reports are accurate and maintain the highest integrity of the financial data
  • Other responsibilities as required

 Competencies, Credentials and Required Experience

  • 5+ years of relevant corporate accounting experience including direct experience mentoring/managing direct reports
  • Post-secondary degree in accounting required, CPA designation preferred
  • Working knowledge of Canadian tax, ASPE and financial analysis and modelling principals
  • Experience in Real Estate sector is an asset
  • Experience with Yardi is an asset
  • Experience managing banking relationships and automating treasury management
  • Track record of dealing with confidential and sensitive situations with integrity, diplomacy, and discretion.
